Tennessee has no statute prohibiting or requiring any licensure for the carrying of “pepper” or oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray, sometimes referred to as “Mace.” Nor does Tennessee limit the size of the container which may be employed. Similarly to stun guns, people working as private security guards, who are to carry a pepper or OC spray on duty, can do so if they have been certified to carry such device.
