Unlicensed, on-body concealed carry passes Miss. Senate

As of this writing the Legislature’s website has not been updated to reflect the text of the amended bill but it will be updated soon.  The link is here.  The bill will now return to the House for concurrence with the amendments.

By report, House Bill 786, originally introduced as “The Mississippi Church Protection Act” the bill was amended to add provisions for unlicensed, concealed, on-body carry (akin to the “purse carry” bill which passed last year) and to prevent state and local enforcement of federal gun laws which violate Mississippi’s Constitutional protection of the right to keep and bear arms.  Presumably the church protection components of the law remain intact.

Special credit goes to Representatives  Andy Gipson and Mark Formby and Senator Sean Tindell.
