Churches (TN)

Generally speaking, it is legal to carry a firearm in a church or “place of worship” so long as the establishment does not have a policy/posting prohibiting weapons on the property. Tennessee does not have a special provision, such as Mississippi’s “Church Protection Act,” specifically allowing firearms in churches. Therefore, churches are treated like any other private business in the eyes of the law when it comes to firearms possession. If the church or pastor prohibits it, then weapons are forbidden. Churches housing a school merit special attention.
