Poor Elizabeth Smart has endured a lot in her life. That she was accosted a second time an airplane is almost unbelievable. As a result she started a women’s self-defense program. I do not know the effectiveness of what is taught, but I fully support the concept. I encourage everyone, male and female, to get training and raise their awareness level.
There are several women specific groups already. In the past I have spoken to the Well Armed Woman. One thing to keep in mind is that women are almost always at a physical disadvantage to men. Tools like pepper spray, stun devices, and firearms can help narrow the gap. (Somewhat comically, while I was writing this very line my wife brought me a jar she was unable to open.)
