David Cole, national legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union, wrote that the New York Attorney General’s suit to disband the NRA is bad for First Amendment protected liberties. He’s right.
The AG’s suit is entirely politically motivated and thus is indefensibly noxious. We should all remember that what’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander and not permit our government to pick sides. Sooner or later the shoe is on the other foot. Our founding fathers were terrified of the government throwing around its weight against disfavored groups.
