Come and see what the Lord shall do

We all get discouraged.  Even David, a man after God’s own heart, was frequently wearied by his circumstances.  But we Christians should take heart. Our God is neither deaf nor inattentive.  When you are struggling with despair, remember the Lord’s awesome power. As Asaph encouraged in Psalm 77:

10 Then I thought, “To this I will appeal: the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand. 11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.

The Bible teaches we can be encouraged by what God is going to do by remembering what God has already done.

Psalm 66:5 Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.

Numbers 11:23 And the LORD said to Moses, “Is the LORD’s hand shortened? Now you shall see whether my word will come true for you or not.”

Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear;

Change your “if” to “because”

When God brings trials into your life, don’t question his love or turn away. God is doing something breathtaking in you, for you, and through you. Because the Lord is with you, and because the Lord loves you, everything that happens to you is filled with divine purpose. Every trial you endure has passed through God’s loving hands. And one day, when your faith becomes sight, you will thank him for every difficulty.
